Every year many candidates compete to crack competitive exams to kickstart their professional journey with a stable job profile. Basically, one can prepare for competitive exams after completing higher secondary examination but, after graduation it becomes easier to crack the exams because you gain more knowledge, experiences and become more mature. How to prepare for competitive exam:

Here are some tips to help you preparing for competitive exams after graduation --------

  • First you have to identify your interests and skills and then you have to choose the exam you want to appear for based on your career goals and preferences.
  • Once you’ve selected the exam, familiarize yourself with the complete syllabus. This step is very important as it lays the foundation for the rest of your preparation journey.
  • Understanding the syllabus will help you plan your strategy of learning and study schedule efficiently.
  • Regular revision is essential to retain the information you have learned.
  • Increase your general knowledge skills and stay up-to-dated with current affairs by studying newspaper regularly and watching news channels.
  • Practicing previous test papers can provide an excellent opportunity to evaluate your progress and identify the areas that need improvement. It also helps you to understand the exam pattern and develop effective time management skills.

Eligibility criteria to appear in competitive exams after graduation:

To appear in competitive exams candidates must have completed their graduation or equivalent examination from a recognized university with at least 50% marks (45% for reserved candidates). But graduation marks depend only for those exams who specify in their notifications the percentage that they want. Here is a detailed disposition about eligibility criteria needed to appear in these competitive exams ------------

  1. Civil Service Examination (UPSC-CSE): In UPSC exam there is no minimum percentage required by the candidate in their graduation but they must have to obtain passing marks in the graduation to appear in this examination. But in interview candidates can be questioned about their high or low percentages in graduation.
  2. Indian Economic Service Examination (IESE): For this exam candidate must process Post-graduate Degree in Economics or Applied Economics or Econometrics or Business Economics from a recognized University. A candidate who has appeared at a qualifying exam, the passing of this is also eligible to appear at the IESE examination, but has not been informed of the result, can also apply for admission to the exam.
  3. Indian Statistical Service Examination (ISSE):The eligibility criteria for this exam are a candidate must have a Bachelor’s degree in Statistics/ Mathematical Statistics/ Applied Statistics or a Master’s degree in Statistics/ Mathematical Statistics/ Applied Statistics from a recognized university.
  4. Combined Defense Service Examination (CDS):Candidates must be aged 20 to 24 with a graduate degree. Also, you need to meet certain physical and medical tests specified by UPSC.
  5. National Defense Academy & Naval Academy examination (NDA):Only unmarried male candidates between the age group 16years 6 months to 19 years 6 months can join NDA. 12th pass of the 10+2 pattern of School or equivalent examination by a State Education Board or a University.
  6. Combined Medical Services Examination (CMS):Candidates applied for the CMS examination should be bellow the age of 32 years as of 1st August 2024.
  7. Engineering Services examination (ESE)/ Indian Engineering Services (IES): Candidates must have BE/B.Tech Degree from any recognized University/ Institution established by eighter an act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as Universities or UCG.
  8. Staff Selection Examination (SSC CGL):To apply for this exam candidates must be a graduate in any subject from a recognized University/ Institution and candidates must have studied either Economics/ Statistics/ Mathematics as a compulsory or as an elective subject.
  9. Exam for different posts through Reserve Bank of India Service Board:Candidates must be aged 21 to 30 and for candidates possessing M.Phil. and Ph.D. qualification, upper age limit will be 32 and 34 years respectively. Candidates must have 60% marks (50% in case of SC/ ST/ PwBD) in bachelor’s degree as well as 12th (or Diploma or equivalent).
  10. Exam for development Officers and others through National Bank of Agriculture & rural Development (NABARD):Candidates must be graduates for group A&B. For group C posts candidates must be class 10 pass. The age limit for grade A is 21 to 30 years, for B grade it is 25 to 32 years and for group C posts is 18 to 30 years.
  11. Exam for Telecom officers in the Department of Telecommunications:The maximum age limit for this exam must not be more than 64 years. For educational eligibility criteria candidates must have passed 10+2 or equivalent exams from a recognized board.
  12. Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE):For this exam candidates must process a graduate degree in engineering or technology or be in the final year of a bachelor’s degree program.
  13. Common Entrance Exam for Design (CEED):Candidates must have completed a degree/ diploma/post graduate degree programmed of minimum Three years (after 10+2 level), or must be appearing for the final exam of such a program or must have passed the GD Arts Diploma programmed (10+5 level).
  14. NIFT Entrance Exam:Candidates passed 10+2 from a recognized institute, have a pass grade in Senior Secondary Examination conducted by the National Open School with a minimum of five subjects and have passed 3-4 years diploma recognized by AICTE or a State Board of Technical Education.
  15. Xavier Aptitude Test (XAT): Applicants should hold a Bachelor’s degree with a minimum 3 years course duration or its equivalent from a recognized university. Candidates in the last year of their Bachelor’s degree course or those awaiting their final yearresults are also eligible.
  16. Common Proficiency Test (CPT): For this exam minimum eligibility criteria are 10 passes.
  17. Common Law Admission Test (CLAT):To be eligible for the CLAT, you must have at least 45% (40% for the candidates in the ST/SC category) overall in your Class 12 exams or an equivalent qualification from a recognized board or institution.
  18. Law School Admission Test (LSAT): Aspirants must hold a graduation degree in any stream. Those who are in their final year of graduation are also eligible to apply for LSAT India.
  19. Common Admission Test (CAT):Eligibility criteria for general category candidates is 50% marks in graduation and 45% for the reserved category. However, the final year students can also apply for this exam.
  20. Management Aptitude Test (MAT):Candidates should have completed graduation in full-time or part-time mode in Arts, Commerce or Science from a recognized university.
  21. Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT):Age limit for this exam is 18 years and above and candidates must have graduation degree.
  22. Railway entrance Exams:Candidates must be aged between 18 to 33 years and possess a minimum of class 10 or an ITI degree or diploma.
  23. LIC AAO:Candidates must have passed graduation to be eligible for this exam.
  24. Teacher Eligibility Test (TET):Applicants should be class 12 passed or graduate from a recognized university with a minimum of 45% marks. The candidates should have obtained a diploma in Education or Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) or completed any other teacher training program/ course.
