The Mauryan Empire lasted from 321 BCE to 185 BCE. It is regarded as the first great empire in Indian history. The empire covered most of the Indian subcontinent under the leadership of Chandragupta, Bindusara, and Ashoka the Great. It fell due to Ashoka's Dhamma policy.
